PGI pellets

Concentric flue system for pellet stoves

The PGI Pellet system is a stainless steel concentric flue suitable for pellet stoves. This new generation of chimney optimising the appliance efficiency and can be used both in new build and renovation installations where energy saving and thermal improvement are the aim.

With the introduction of new energy saving regulations (Approved Documents F and L), housing designs are continuously evolving to provide ever more air tight structures. PGI Pellet (being the only HETAS listed concentric system chimney) can combine the air intake as well as the smoke evacuation without compromise, and when used with the AirTite kit minimises heat loss from the building.

A study run by the Environmental Agency for “More Energy” stated that when using air delivered by the PGI system the stove efficiency can be improved by 10 to 15% reducing the amount of fuel consumed.

All of the products offered by Cheminées Poujoulat have been rigorously tested in every configuration by the CERIC Laboratory to ensure they meet highest standards (Building Regulation Document J - Amendements to Approved Documents).

CE marking: 0071-CPD-0051/52
Designation: T450 N1 W Vm L50040 G50 (Dynamic application*) - T450 N1 W Vm L50040 G100 (Static application**)

* Dynamic Application:  If combustion air is supplied via the system then it is a dynamic application requiring just 50mm clearance to combustible materials.

** Static application: If the air is supplied by an independent source then air gap is static in which case 100 mm clearance to combustible materials is required.

4.The chimney must be installed in accordance with the requirements of Building Regulations approved document J and Poujoulat installation instructions.

Termination position & heights

For solid fuel appliance

Where the chimney passes through a pitched roof more than 0.6m from the ridge the horizontal distance between the roof and the chimney termination shall be not less than 2.3m unless the termination is at least 0.6m above the ridge (excluding any chimney terminal).

Where the discharge end of the chimney flue is within a horizontal distance of 2.3m from any adjoining structure or opening into building the termination height shall be not than 1m above that structure or opening.

Where the chimney passes through a flat roof or a shallow pitched roof having a slope less than 10°, the chimney termination shall be 1m above the level of the roof at the point of penetration through the structure.

Note: for more details about termination positions, please refer to Building Regulation Part J
